2014 Prostate Cancer Centre Annual Report

Annual Theme: “Kicking it into Gear”

Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC) is a non-profit, world-class medical centre with a mandate to prevent Alberta men from dying of prostate cancer, and to improve the quality of their lives and their families lives in the process. Annually, over 12,000 men and their families visit the Prostate Cancer Centre. The Centre pursues its mission by reaching out to individuals, corporations, and others to channel resources – both financial and human – to fight this deadly disease.

Any complicated machine relies on several individual parts to get the job done. When the system is overwhelming and complex as prostate cancer, there is more likelihood for the gears to get stuck and a man to get lost during the journey. Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre is a one-stop leading edge privately funded facility. They provide our community with rapid access to prostate awareness, information, diagnostic services, treatment and after care. A man could visit the Centre up to 60 times and each one of them for a different reason. Most of all, they want to encourage men to kick the gears when they get stuck and experience the control they can have in their prostate cancer journey.
